Horse Physiotherapy, also known as equine physiotherapy, is a key part of training and rehabilitation of your horse. It can also be used for maintenance to keep your horse fit and healthy.
Horse Physio can be suitable for any horse from competition level horses to shetland ponies. We commonly work alongside other equine professionals such as your Vet, Saddler and Farrier to ensure that your equine has everything they need to perform to their best. Incorporating routine physiotherapy into your horse's training program will mean he will be using his body more effectively and will be more equipped to avoid injury or will recover more quickly should the worst happen.
How does it help?
Horses need to be able to work over their back by engaging their core muscles and stretching over their topline, in order to effectively carry a rider. It is normal for horses who are in light work or coming back to competition fitness to develop areas of tightness or discomfort, particularly over their back, as they develop and strengthen muscles in their training. Regular physiotherapy can ensure that these areas are targeted early on to avoid any resentment or reduced performance during training to allow your horse to give you his best work.
